Somebody pinch me so that I know that I’m not dreaming!! Although I knew this day would come, my mind is still trying to process all that has been happening to me in the last couple of days. Where do I even begin? Well, let me start from the very beginning. It all started back in around May 2015 when I was searching for our first group book-study for our women’s ministry at church. I wasn’t sure exactly what book I was looking for, but I figured I would know once I found it.
So, I began researching different types of Christian resources from various ministries and authors. To my disappointment, after carefully reading snippets of the plethora of books/study guides/ pamphlets, etc., many of the resources I found were really “self-help” literature, under the guise of the “Christian” title. I came across many resources on how to be successful in life, how to win the husband of your dreams, how to be a business woman, etc., but couldn’t find how to cultivate your relationship with Jesus, or how to be a woman of God.
I started to get frustrated and angered by the lack of Biblical-based books available for a Christian women’s ministry. I honestly wanted to throw in the towel, and give up on finding a group study book, but I kept searching. That’s when the Lord led me to the Revive Our Hearts (ROH) website.
I must have stayed on that website for hours. Reading their blogs, articles, watching the videos, and finally landed on their leadership tab. Under leadership were various resources for women’s ministry. My heart started racing (maybe I’m being dramatic lol), because I felt I was close to finding what I was desperately searching for. I then came across a section titled “book studies”. I clicked on it, then started to read the different group studies available. After reading the description of “Seeking Him”, I knew that was going to be our first book to read.
So on July 11, 2014 ( I had to go through my email and find the emailed receipt, lol), I ordered four copies of the “Seeking Him” book.
A few ladies in our women’s ministry that I was discipling one-on-one agreed to do a “tester” and read the book with me, before I shared it with the entire women’s ministry.
We would read a chapter a week, then meet to discuss the book. The discussions were so intense, and at times we were in tears from what we learned and how God was pricking our hearts. After we finished the book, I introduced it to the remaining women in our ministry. Next thing I knew, we had almost 30 women, order the book to read it with us, or read it on their own.
Fast-forwarding to October 19, 2014 I reached out to Nancy De Moss, the author of the Seeking Him book, and the Director of the Revive Our Hearts (ROH) Ministry. I follow her on Twitter, so I asked her if she could follow me back so that I can send her a direct (private) message. I wasn’t really expecting her to reply because she has thousands of followers, and I just knew my tweet would get lost on her Twitter timeline.
To my surprise, she replied right away and agreed to follow me back so I could message her (she is just cool like that). In my message to Nancy, I told her how grateful I was for her Seeking Him book, how it blessed so many women in our ministry, and I told her how thankful I was for Revive Our Hearts. Nancy’s response blew me away. She responded by asking me how I found Seeking Him, then the very next thing she said was “Would love to hear more. Would you be open to doing a phone interview with our radio producer?” I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I said to myself, “Did Nancy De Moss just ask me if I would be open to do a phone interview?” I was in disbelief. We messaged back and forth for a few more minutes, I gave Nancy my contact information, and she said that her producer will be contacting me, but she wasn’t quite sure when, and that it may be a while.
Fast-forwarding to June 11, 2015 (eight-months after my contact with Nancy), I received an email from a producer at Revive Our Hearts. She introduced herself, told me that Nancy shared with their team about our Twitter exchange, and how they wanted to do the phone interview. After a few emails back and forth, we chose a date for the phone interview. The date was set for June 22, 2015.
On June 22nd as the phone interview was coming to an end, the producer told me that he would like to record an interview with me on video. He asked me if I was going to attend the upcoming Revive 15 Conference in Indianapolis, and if so, maybe we could record the video interview during the conference. Once again, I was in disbelief. I told the producer I was going to attend the conference, and that I would be honored to record another interview.
Fast-forwarding to September 24, 2015, I met with the Revive Our Hearts producers and recorded the interview in Indianapolis during the Revive Conference.
The interview started off being solely about my experience with the Seeking Him book, and leading the women’s ministry with the group-study, but it end up being about my personal journey of forgiveness with my dad.
Fast-forwarding to December 4, 2015, my interview/testimony was featured on the Revive Our Hearts YouTube Channel and website. On December 7, 2015 my interview/testimony was broadcast for the Revive Our Hearts radio show/podcast.

All unexpected blessings!!
In fact, I’ve written down some of the unexpected blessings that has happened:
#1- Forgiveness and restoration of me and dad’s relationship
#2- Healed heart, from bitterness, anger, unforgiveness
#3- Phone interview for ROH
#4- Meeting Nancy De Moss (and husband Robert)
#5- Video interview for ROH featured on their website and Youtube
#6- Interview featured on the ROH radio broadcast
#7- Others have been inspired to forgive someone
#8- Opportunity to share Jesus with more people than I could ever reach on my own
This entire experience has taught me so much about the providence of God, how He truly directs our path. What started off as a simple search for a women’s ministry book study, has opened up doors for me, that I couldn’t imagined or plan. All I was doing, was the work of the Lord, seeking to help the women in our ministry grow closer to Christ. My mind and heart was set on Jesus Christ, pleasing Him and doing His will. I was not seeking after anything but Christ and His Kingdom.
I want to encourage you also, to keep seeking Christ first. Surrender your life to Him and allow Him to direct your path. Stop trying to make things happen, be in control of your life, chasing things that you think will make you happy. Let Him lead you, pursue Jesus with all your heart.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight” Proverbs 3:5-6
PS- I highly recommend for you to read “Seeking Him” by Nancy De Moss. This is the book that I speak about in my interview, and that has changed the course of my life. It is rooted in Scripture, and will push you closer to Jesus Christ. Also, be sure to check out all the resources on the Revive Our Hearts website, www.reviveourhearts.com
